The Chalkdale layout has evolved over the last 3 years but retains its basic layout of 3 circular levels of double track connected by ramps and reversing loops on a 6 x 10 (60) baseboard footprint. A totally fictional map, but designed to represent typical British hedgerow countryside.
Throughout its evolution, a consistent policy of using only built-in Auran scenery assets has been adopted for Chalkdale, to simplify installation and maximise frame rates. No 3rd party asset downloads are required.
The current Chalkdale version, Chalkdale 2004, was released in September 2004 and has attracted over 5000 downloads from the Auran DLS. It includes over 80km of electrified double track, 13 passenger-activated stations and over 20 industries to provide almost endless scheduling possibilities. Aircraft flight paths and full coverage by trackside cameras ensures maximum viewing potential.
